Do you know how political legitimacy and respect for the law gradually get undermined?
It happens when governments, police, and courts keep targeting some groups for repression, while showing favouritism for others.
When the same action is sometimes tolerated or even encouraged, while at other times it is sanctioned.
During the COVID years, it was seen as virtuous to join thousands of people and demonstrate for Black Lives Matter.
But you could go to jail for attending a small rally against lockdowns and COVID passports!
This week, we learned that the City of Ottawa has withdrawn fines issued to pro-Palestinian protesters in 2023 and 2024.
But honk honk during the Convoy, that was terrorism according to the authorities?!?
This disturbing trend toward a two-tiered justice system has accelerated under the Liberals.
If you are an immigrant, a foreigner, a member of a privileged ethnic or sexual minority, or a far-left activist, you are more likely to get a pass and be treated leniently.
If you aren’t – good luck!
EQUALITY BEFORE THE LAW shouldn’t be some quaint, ancient principle that has fallen into disuse.
It should still be the core of our justice system.
There’s no way we can have a peaceful, free, and just society without it.
That’s why I founded the People’s Party seven years ago, and why our team and I keep fighting to protect our fundamental rights and freedoms.
